Acne can be a very uncomfortable thing not because of healthy related issues, but because of the aspect. As you would do anything to get rid of it, you trust and follow even the most innocent myth which promises to help you be beautiful again.
Here are some myths that are highly debated and sometimes overthrown by dermatologists:
- Get rid of pimples with Listerine
In this case Listerine can help you restore your skin its beauty, but in a certain measure. For instance, if you have a dry skin, then you should avoid this ‘treatment’. You will only make things worse.
- Chocolate stimulates the pimple growth
So far, there is no certainty that chocolate has this effect upon your skin. However, specialists experiment this concept in order to get a response. This depends on you, after all. Nevertheless, it is well known that foods rich in dairy products and lots of sugar contribute at the pimple formation.
- Pop a pimple to fasten the drying process
In this situation things are quite uncertain because the effects of doing this are both positive and negative. Positive because you are eliminating part of the pimple, negative because you are also pushing part of it inside. It’s up to you, but be careful.
- Sport can determine pimples to break out
This myth is partially true, particularly because it is influenced by other factors such as your personal hygiene. It is true that when you work out you sweat much more, but if you know that it is imperative to cleanse your skin right after you return from the gym, then you will have nothing to worry about.
- Your period stimulates the break out
In this case, rumors are more than true. Responsible are the hormones, which during this period do what they want. If you want you can take some pills to put in balance your hormones, but why not let the nature do its job?
- Acne is present only when you are teenager
Nothing falser than this. Teenagers are not the only ones who suffer from this affection, adults do also. Some people may even have a serious issue, precisely because there is no hormonal balance to get things set.
- If you shave you will get pimples
Pimple growth is not influenced by how often you shave. The red marks on your skin that appear after shaving are most probable ingrown hairs. In this case, your best option is to opt for a razor.
- Tan your skin and it will be clear
Thinking that going tanned will be a solution to pimples is not a good solution. On the contrary, you expose yourself at many risks.
If you see that your pimples do not vanish or you cannot remove them with simple remedies, it is better you visit a dermatologist. Better prevent than worsen things.
